Emperor Angelfish

I was thinking about getting an Empreror Angelfish off Saltwaterfish.com (the adult 5-7 inch angel.)
What are the chances it will eat / survive? I've heard rumors that once a certain age / size, these fish get quite difficult to transfer / keep. Would I be better off getting a large juvenile?
Assuming my tank parameters are fine.
Need Help!!
Thanks in advance!

I've seen a lot of emperors do just fine with good water conditions. From what I can tell they are not hard to keep at all.

A juvi would be easier to keep than an adult - sometimes, especially with the angels - it can be harder to get an adult to eat in captivity. The emperor is a good choice though. Personally, I'd get the juvi - I think it also looks cool. :)

when it comes to large angels or any other fishes, i always go with juvenile ones because they need less space(which also means less strain on filtration system) than adult counterparts and they're more adaptable to captive conditions. this is especially important because they become less dependent on their natural diet, which sponge. also, many wild-caught adult angels have quite pugnacious temper.....i'm sure you don't want that....another plus is that you can actually watch your emperor go through color transition.....this is the most exciting aspect of keeping a large angel....i think....

remember these angels do get very large and will require a 150g + size tank as adults. Do you like any of the dwarf angels as they will do fine in a 75g as adults?

He'll be in a 220 soon enough. I would like to get a juvie, but I need one with size on him because he'll be with bigger fish. I wish I could find one in mid transformation.
