i have a 285 g tank in it i have a 12 in emperor he is currently eating and doing good but i have had them before and they have died for no reason at all so i want some tips on maintaining him please commen

what are you feeding how often and are you spplementing him? Do you qt them with prazi pro for possible internal parasites?
