Emptied Protein Skimmer

I just put in 150lb lR and 40lb live sand about 5 hrs ago. I check my skimmer cup and it was half full so I went to dump it and it smells like a skunk took a
-hit in a camels mouth. Is that normal?

Yea it smells pretty bad.

OH yea, the sweet smell of skimmate. Makes you wish you were changing a babies diaper.

Oh, and DTs phyto plankton smell sweet too.

Yep, thats normal and just think; thats the initiation of becoming a "mod" here, drinking a cup of skimmate.
