I don`t know a lot about MH but , I would say you will need a few 250 watt fixtures . But don`t take my word , I just got my first MH for a 26 gallon and it is a 150 watt w/ 130 watt pc.

You will definitely want to get multiple 250w fixtures.. I have a GBTA doing great under 2 x 250w halides in my 110 (30" deep).

250 because some bulbs and ballist do not give 100%, I spent a ton on my 3 250 hqi and changed out the ballist to coralvue blue 250 watt and i had a night and day change in the tank so just because it says 250 think about the true out put. go 250

I have a Hex that's been set up for a few months that I've been keeping a V-Lionfish in. I want to convert this over to a tank with 2 Gold stripe Maroon clowns and a Rose bubble Anenome. I have just a 25watt Floresent litght and 2 13w Corralife 10k I think (maybe 16500k) Will I have enought light output for Anemone to thrive? From top to bottom is 25".
(Sorry if I Hi-jacked thread!)

this is true, it it is to much it will move, but if it is not enough it will wither away over time and die

150's or 250's will be fine for the BTA, either will be great. Just think about down the road as well. If you are planing, or will plan, to have other corals then just jump right to the 250's now as this will save any conversion later on.

Can you elaborate does a Rose need more light than a Green???? I did not think it would matter??

i think it just depends on the species... a green and rose BTA are technically the same species, just a different color.

Thanks
I hope so I was leaning towards a RBTA and hope it needs the same requirements as the GBTA

I have owned the green BTA, Rose BTA and the super pink rose BTA. All under the same lighting and I have had success with all of them I have owned. Im not a pro at this but I have been around the block a few times.

All of the BTA species are identicle in care and needs, the coloration that they get is not clearly understood. Theory's revolve around protection from bright lighting but the bottom line is no one really knows. The brown coloration however is given to them by zooxanthellae. Other than the demand for higher pricing eg. the rose bubble tip anenome, there has been no evidence that one color is different from the other as far as care and requirements are concerned.
