Enough light for zoas and mushrooms?

I have 65w PC (50/50 bulb) over a 37g tank (30x12x21). I was told I could keep zoas, yumas, rics with this lighting.
1. Do you agree?
2. If it is enough light, is it JUST enough to sustain life? Or will they "do well" under that lighting?

Zoa's and shrooms might be ok... whats the height of the tank?
As for yuma's and Ric's I think they would be in trouble. JMO
less than 2 watts per gal of PC light is not a lot at all. Placment in your tank is most likley going to have to be up higher.

21 tall. (I posted the dimensions)

I built my live rock up to just over half way up the back side. Should I be good if I place Zoas on the rocks closest to the top? Can mushrooms sit on the sand or otherwise real low? My lights are at the front of the tank, so straight down from the lights is a good open area for mushrooms.

JMO, but I would not keep zoa's under that light. I would at least double that.

I agree, I don't think you're going to be able to keep zoas with the lighting. When I've kept zoas under PCs in the past, they've had be right up under the lights (like 4" away) and I had double the bulbs that you do. Some mushrooms (probably), ricordia or yuma (probably not ~ but again maybe, depending on how close to the top you are keeping them)

So, no Zoas, Rics, or Yumas. What about mushrooms? I may just have to go with nonphotosynthetic, but I'd rather not.

I had mushrooms under plain factory fluorescent lighting. They reproduced like crazy. I always thought they were brown until I got MH and they turned a pretty purple color. I think mushrooms are pretty hardy. JMO

Since I am limited to mushrooms, I am going to try a non-photosynthetic. I figure I'll try a sun coral or two, since they seem to be beginner-friendly. (yes, I am doing my homework before purchasing)
The only thing I'm not being able to find info on is whether I could keep a couple of sun corals with some mushrooms.

When I started my 45 years ago I had two factory lights, then upgraded the bupbs and finally retrofitted the fatory shells with PCs. I had plenty of mushrooms, softies and one type of ric, which at the time I thought was a mushroom (ya learn a lot about this hobby in 10 or so years). I can speak for zoas as I have just started with them.
Your tank height 21" is in yuor favor. At the time mine was 36". You hay see the PCs heat up yuor tank if there is no space between them and the glass top.
Can you fit a second strip on the top? I would go actinic in the second one or possibly 50/50.

So it is a wooden hood? Check out some retro kits. I'd bet you can get a reflextor and a bulb in there somewhere - just gotta put the ballast under the tank. Coralife has some like this...

It's an Eclipse hood system. :)
