I have 2- 21" 65 watt Actinics and 2-21" 65 watt 10000K bulbs. Would this be enough? and will it thrive? any suggestions what kind of MH pendents and how many, keep in mind a good price:eek:
thanks for your help

If it is going in your 45, yes it is enough and can thrive provide that your water conditions are prestine. If it will be in your 90 gallon that's a no IMO.

Yeah, you're more than fine. A good rule to go by is 4-5 watts of light output per gallon. So if you have a 45 gallon, your lighting should be around 180-225 watts. Keep in mind this is a general rule and there are exceptions to every rule. For example, if you have a really tall tank, you might need more watts because the light has more space to travel down. And most stony corals and clams need high intensity lighting. As far as M/H's are concerned, it depends on what you want to keep. If you're not into hard corals, then they're a waste of $$ IMO.

IMO the rule is so general, it shouldn't even be used. There are many other factors other than tank size and lighting to determine if you do or don't have enough light.

Sorry I just couldn't help it

Think of all the tests kits I could save on if I could just taste test it.
