I currently have a 55 FO no LR, CC bed w/ decrative coral. Up and running for almost 2 years. I have a w* d, canister running carbon, single 40W tube.
I am planning over time to convert to a reef. I have been reading everything I can for the past several months. I am planning on converting in the following order.
1. Add skimmer
2. Add lighting
3. change CC for LSB
4. Adding LR over time
5. Finally adding corals, etc.
Questions:
1. Since I have a sump and would perfer not to have something hanging off my tank I would like something that would go under my tank either inside or next to my sump. What suggestions would you have?
2. I need to build a hood. I am considering an Icecap with 3 VHO's. I have considered MH but am concerned with the heat on a small tank. I definately don't want to have to buy a chiller. The VHO's would give me 6.5W* gal. IMO this should be OK. Any comments?
3. What kind of sand is available? Is the best way over the internet?
