Does anyone have any experience with Nova T5's? If so how are they?
How many Powerheads will i need for a 75Gal Reef tank? and how much gph should they be?
Should I use a wavemaker?
Thanks WildJosh

i had a nova extreme, and have a nova extreme pro. they are decent fixtures. i would choose the pro atleast for a 75.
as far as powerheads, you will want to decide on what you want to keep before you choose the amount of flow you are going to need. if you like sps, then you'll need alot of flow, softies...a bit less..
i would start with a couple modded mj1200's or a couple koralia 4's for starters. two koralia 4's won't be too much for a 75.

x2, im also looking into a nova fixture for my tank. ive been wondering what size is recommended. ideally do you want the fixture to go the full length side to side? is a 60" to small for a 72" tank? and i love my koralia 4's. i bought 2 for my 125g, and i think im going to order 2 more. but id def recommend 2 of them for a 75g

i'd go with a 6' fixture for sure. a 5' fixture will leave some shadowing on either end.

Individual reflectors means there is an individual piece of metal (reflector) that is shaped in a C-type shape around each bulb. So on a six-bulb fixture, for example, there would be six individual reflectors, one for each bulb.
Contoured means there is one one large piece of metal used as the reflector, and it is just shaped to dip down between the bulbs. They can look somewhat similar at first glance, but you will get much better light output with true individual reflectors.

the 8x54 does not have individual reflectors, it has a single parabolic. go with the extreme pro. it has 6x54 with individual reflectors. i think its a bit more money, but its cheaper to run, and has much higher light output. t5s dont actually have better out put than cfls, but their smaller diameter allows you to fit individual reflectors in, which greatly increases output (if you think about it, at least half of the lightbulb, and therefore the output, is not facing the tank). so if you dont get individual reflectors, its only slightly more lumens per watt than compat florescent.

yeah, i checked it online, the pro is about $50 more where i check. i forgot about this too, the pro has 2 less bulbs to replace, which is 30-40 dollars saved already.

the extreme pro does not have true individual reflectors. it has contoured ones. it's alot better than the extreme though.

eh..i like moonlights, but i wouldn't not buy a fixture because it didn't come with them. i use a single Coralife Aqualight 1W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED on my 195, and it's plenty.
for the frag tank that has the pro over it, i point one of these towards the ceiling above it, believe it or not, and it's also, plenty.

I called in my order for the lights like 2 hours ago and i just called back to see if i could switch the lights to the pro's and pay the extra and they didn't want to find the shipment in the wharehouse so they told me i had to wait till they came in the mail and then send them back and get the ones i wanted. I was like that seems like so much more time then just changing it now. and plus my order would be more then what it was because i'm going to get more expensive lights and a attachable lunar lights. They basically gave me well there is nothing we can do.
I have never had a problem with Doctor Foster and Smith before.

Well I was able to finally convince Dr. Foster and Smith's to change my order to the Pro's and I got a small Lunar light attachment. I hope these will be better.
