Hello my name is scotty and i am going to purchase a 135g with stand lights and such i have found on the internet for 500 (i didnt think that was a bad price) but anyways i plan on running salt again and i would like to know a good filtration setup for a reef... i have been looking online and i have found the freedom filter system but iv been hearing iffy things about the protein skimmer they are also a little pricey but if any one has any suggestions... and i really don't want to run hoses everywhere the more contained it is, the better

Is the 135 drilled? For tank that size I'd recommend running a sump and/or refugium and invest on a good skimmer.

As long as it's not tempered I would drill it before you set it up most glass shops or possibly a body shop should have the tools to drill it and shouldn't cost all that much. Either way though I would set up a sump and buy a good protien skimmer rather than buy an all in one unit. You will get far more for your money.

Over back overflow boxes do work I am currently using one but only because I don't want to tear down my system to drill my tank. A drilled tank is far better since there is much less risk of a flood with a drilled tank plus it looks cleaner without all the stuff hanging on the back of the aquarium.
