so when i first got my tank up and running, after it cycled one of the first things i put in my tank was green star polyps. they looked fine in the store but after acclimating them for about an hour and a half i put them in my tank and the NEVER came out. i left them in my tank for like a month and finally assumed they were dead and threw them away. after some time i decided to take another whack at keeping them in my tank. i bought them from the same place and like before they looked fine in the store but now that i have them in my tank they are not coming out! i don't understand it! what am i doing wrong?? i have a 12 gal. eclipse tank and i have plate coral, 2 other kinds of zoanthids in my tank and they are all fine and i acclimated them the same way. i thought star polyps were supposed to be the "perfect beginner coral"... yeah right! maybe they don't like where they are at??...where should i place them in my tank?

please help, i'm losing my patience

thanks in advance!

How long have they been in there? I have had mine close up for up to 3 weeks at a time. Even exposing them to colder air can make them stay closed for up to a month.

i have had them for only a day, but from the looks of it it seems like im going down the same path as last time i tried to keep them....but if yours closed up for a month then maybe i'm ok. where do you have them placed in your tank?(up high, in sand, on rock, high flow...ect)

I have mine placed in really strong indirect flow, up high. And after a day I would be surprised if even 1 polyp was out.
give it a week, and if you don't see a polyp, then maybe there is something wrong.

Just give them time, don't throw them away unless they smell dead when you pull them out of the water.
