Euro Reef RC80

Euro Reef RC80
I purchased an RC80 off of some site and it arrived broken.
I guess I should have expressed my concern over the choice of shipping via USPS. Now I need to buy a replacement part. I was also mis-led, the skimmer was advertised as an RC180, I thought I was getting a larger volume skimmer, I think I'm pretty screwed. I am bummed. I sent Euro Reef an e-mail, I'll just have to see what happens.

What's broken on it. That really bits. There's a massive difference is a RC80 verses the RC180. I have the latter and it's a great skimmer.

I kind of hope I can glue it with pvc cement but I don't know. I'm angry because it is not what was advertised.

The blue stuff is apparently some type of epoxy or something. It clearly has been repaired earlier in its life. I never thought to ask if it had been repaired. I'm sick over this.

Major scrood on just it being an RC80 alone much less the prior repair gone bad. How did you pay for it? If it was anything other than check or money order I'd promptly dispute and if possible retrack payment.

Is there a difference between PVC and PVCI? The fittings are 1" PVCI. If that means anything.

OMG! That is absolutely ridiculous. Was the sale in the written form?
Lemme go see what is on our skimmer.
EDIT: Oh Oh that PVC probably isn't suppose to there. That is a part of their repair. I see what they were doing now.
Thank goodness you used paypal. Follow the steps for their claims. Take pictures. Copies of the forsale info if you have it. You may not get it back, but at least you'll shut him down.
Do you use a bank account or credit card for the paypal transaction?

Like, on a forum somewhere , on a website or in a paper etc. or was it from a verbal sale... like a neighbour a reef group member... that sort of thing.
EDIT: I guess I mean do you have proof of what he actually said he was selling.

Then I would go again and start the process of a claim. They suggest a few things to do first before actually filing it... follow what they say.

the [restrictive] PVC was put there to slide the broken intake pipe back onto the rest of the intake pipe and then they tried to seal it with some hideous sealant that obviously didn't work. Somehow they managed to break the PVC fix too (probably the same way they broke the original pipe)
I cant see how you wont make good on your claim if you still have access to the original add that describes it as a 180 and with no mention of being broken and ghetto rigged.

I know but I didn't want the guy trying to fix it replacing a part thats not suppose to be there. I guess I quoted the wrong quote.

I have been in contact with Euro Reef and they will fix it the correct way for a flat fee of $100 plus return shipping. I will see how the seller responds. I would rather return it because it is not what was advertised, and I will continue to search for a 180 sized skimmer.

So, I have about a 110 gal system including sump. How would this Euro Reef compare with the AquaC Remora Pro that I currently have?
