Ever have one of those weekends!!!

Hello all, It has been a long time since I have been to the forum...about 4 years. Back then I had a real sweet Reef set up but due to a vision problem
(Going blind), my hubby had me give it up for fear that I might be harmed by some of my corals
I guess he was right considering I can't even eat shellfish or even Tuna for that matter without it killing me
, so I did as he asked and sold my set up. So he went and bought me a 12g Eclipse Set up w/ stand for I did keep my mated pair of Pucula Clown fish and some snails and feather dusters as well as some live rock and sand from my Reef Tank that I sold. All has been going good but I did lose my female clown about a year ago so now I am down to 1 clown and a few snails and a peppermint shrimp
a far cry from a reef tank!!
Well yesterday I awoke to find my 12g had a small leak in the seam and I had to take everything out and reseal it. So now my little clown is in a 8g tank w/ a big piece of my live rock and the snails and my lone shrimp just waiting for the tank to clear from all the sand that was dumped back in...hubby is lucky he is still alive
he is not fond of fish unless they are on the end of his fishing pole, and has no clue about the tank and after the tank was repaired just dumped all the water and live sand I had right back in the tank and now it looks like a sand storm from the old west!!! So now I have to wait for it all to settle down b4 I can add my little friends back into thier home. What a mess this weekend has become. Do you think in the morning if it is still a sand storm a water change might help speed it up? Any advise would be great. Thanks All.

A water change would help, just make sure you slowly add the new water so you don't mix the sand more than it already is. It's just going to take some time to let the sand settle. What kind of filtration do you have? Also, the tank doesn't have to be completely clear to put the clown back in.

bioneck, the tank is just a small 12g Eclipce. I just did another water change and poured it in by the cup full as to not try and mess with the sand again. I did notice my salitity is a bit low so I have another batch of water mixing now.
I think at this rate with all the water I hae changed out the tank might go into a recycle
Do you think that is possible? If it is how long do you thing a 12g tank takes to complete a cycle
? I still have about 6g of the original take water left, my clown is in a small 8g right now. I would hate to add her back in with my turbo and N. snails as well as my pepperment shrimp and lose them because it may be going through a cycle.

It's not going to go through the cycle again. Most of your biological bacteria resides in your live rock, sand, and on the surface of your tank. Changing out the water isn't going to affect your bio filter. Like I said before, the water doesn't have to be crystal clear to start adding your livestock.
