Everyone's take on a blue jaw trigger?

I love triggerfish. They are, hands down, my favorite kind of fish. If I could have a one million gallon fish tank with nothing but layers and schools of triggers of all sorts I'd be the happiest fishkeeper. I would feed them schools of sardines and mackral and name each and every one of them a seperate but cute name. Unfortunately all I have is a 75 gallon REEF TANK. We all know about triggers and reefs, but I have heard that Blue Jaw triggerfish may not present the horror and carnage something like, say, a picasso would on my corals and passive fish. What does anyone else know about this filthy rumor?

the blue throat wont bother corals .mine didnt bother the snails or crabs .but i had 3 shrimp and he made short time out of them.also if they think your finger is food they will bite you.i know this first hand.but they are a great fish for a fowlr and some corals for sure.

my understanding is that blue jaw and pink tail triggers are the safest for reefs. i've seen people with cross hatch triggers in their reefs as well. i dont think i would keep any of the above in a 75 gallon, though

yea 75 is a bit small for sure.mine was in my 150 then to my 250.he used up the whole tank.they will knock over corals also.but if i had a fowlr tank i would get another one.

what are you going to do when it grows?i had 3 tangs in a 90 for a few years no problem they were small then i went to a 150.if you plan a bigger tank and the fish is 1-2 inch i say fine but dont plan this long term they will get verry nasty growing up in a 75

Well I'm definately planning on a tank upgrade probably sometime in the next few years to 150 gals or more. I get what you're saying though. The last thing I want is a trigger having to grow into cramped conditions.

Yeah a blue jaw is good with corals and most hard shelled inverts (when he is small) as he grows... they turn into food
I had one, it didnt grow as fast as my humma humma or niger so it could be okay in your 75 for up to 2 years.. but they do love shrimp...
The blue jaw and crosshatch are the only ones i know that dont NORMALLY mess with corals on purpose..
