evolution of my first tank...

Started about 2 and half months ago. crushed coral, plastic plants, decorative rocks, freshwater background, skilter 250, and two damsels

added a small penguin filter with established bio stars from a friends tank, ditched the decorative rock and plastic plants for some live rock.

took out the crushed coral and put in 20lbs of live sand, added two clown, and a chocolate chip starfish, 1 damsel killed the other, and was returned to the pet store.

turned over the freshwater background for black, added a 50/50 bulb

ditched the penguin filter, took out the 1 penguin powerhead, and added 2 maxi jets at either corner. added 11 lbs of dead rock, and 10 lbs of dead sand. compact fluorescent lighting with moonlight leds. rearranged live rock again.

I realize i have made my share of mistakes, but i think its coming along rather nicely. I still have the protien skimmer i need to hook up, thats tomorrow project. what do ya think?

It is coming along nicely. Watch that CC star. he will kill every snail and crab that goes in there.

yeah i know, another one of my mistakes, buying one from the lfs after the guy said it was ok. I have had him for about a month, and so far no problems, but i dont want to push my luck. I have a friend that doesnt have any inverts in some of his tanks, and going to ask him on monday if he is interested in taking him off of my hands. I could offer him up here too. in fact i think i will.

yes, they are a FO tank mate. I am not honestly sure if they bother corals since they eat meat and algea, but WILL definately eat inverts.

NIce tank and good recovery.. This is a good example of how you can make a few mistakes and quickly turn around and make it all good.

You have come a long way! I was in the same boat when I started. Lots of mistakes. The more you learn, the better things turn out. Keep up your good work!
