Can anyone help me with some info on what i can do to get to excellent water parameters. I have a 14g biocibe and plan on keeping inverts and lps soft corals... i have test kit for
carbonate hardness/ alkalinity?
pH
Nitrite
nitrate
ammonia
to my understanding i should get test kits to maintain
calcium
magnesium
iodine
phosphate
then should i go from the parameters from those test kits to determine whether or not to add those additives???
is strontium a must?
is magnesium a must?
i have red sea xenia so i do want to add iodine to benefit the coral.
please help thanks

rule of thumb:
never add anything you dont test for. only add additives if you test for something and its low.
as far as perfect water params: WATER CHANGES/WATER CHANGES/WATER CHANGES... can never hurt.. do a little bit every week.. 2-3 gal every friday
you can add a mini lit refugium to your back chamber with the chaeto.

In my opinion don't watse your money on magnesium calcium and iodine test kits for your tank and your stocking plan. As Ron said a solid weekly water change schedule of 10-20% per wekk will easily replace any imbalance in this tank.
