Initial investment was over 3 thousand that did not include LR and odds and ends. Or the 2 tanks I converted from FW to SW QT and Hospital tanks. I'm guessing I am around 4 thousand now with the RO/DI unit Salt extra heaters and PH I needed for surplus water, salt and fresh. Tank is 4 weeks old so no fish yet!!
I am sure it will all be worth it in the end.

Very expensive hobby (especially all the equipment) but is definately worth it when your tank is stocked.

For my 24 gal AquaPod alone, I have well over $1,000.00 invested, and I am not done stocking.
Between the tank ($225), the MH ($300), the rock ($150), corals ($225), test kits ($100), water & sand ($50), two fish ($50), additives, vitamins, supplements, etc ($100), various other things (thermometer, hydrometer, scraper, magfloat - $50) - I'm going broke!! Now my dogs have a thing for fish food, I'm on my third bottle of that, thats $10 a pop. I buy live & frozen brine shrimp, thats a couple bucks a week. I also do bi-weekly water changes, and buy bottled RO water for top offs, that cost isnt added in there. Man, if people I know knew how much I spent on this stuff, they'd have me psych. tested. But, I love my little tank...and that's all that matters!

I definately think I'm certifiable...especially when I have a single fish that's worth more than $1000.
It's definately crazy when you make sure your fish eat before you do. LOL!
