I am so frustrated with my LFS being so expensive and just not caring about how much they mark up everything that I don't want to buy there anymore. What is it like to buy fish online? Are they usually successful and healthy? I am just finishing a tank cycle for the very first time....getting ready to add a cleaning crew. Any suggestions??? thanks!!!:help:

Ive ordered at least a dozen times from Salt Water Fish .com, and have yet to have any problems. you just need to make sure that someone will be there when there delivered, they ship live stuff overnight by fed-ex. ive also ordered other places and never had a problem. I went to my lfs needind about 30 snails rescently, and they wanted 4.90 each!!! i just ordered 50 snails off a famouse auction site, for 15.80 shipping and all. so i def. know what ya mean. todd

I'm lucky on that one, my dads been buying off of our LFS since the guy that runs it was selling out of his garage in high school.
We get the employee discount and another 10% normally (20% overall on dry goods)... normally on livestock we get major deals. Frags he normally just gives us for free if not dirt cheap :D .
Its really nice to have a LFS that isn't out for the money and actually cares about the customers - no matter how dumb some of them are  .
I've only heard one or two complaints about ordering offline, but other than that, everythign I've heard on these boards, expecially from this site, has been great. If not, send em back.
Good Luck!

wow thanks for all the great replies. I am ready to get a cleanup crew for this 90 gallon. I think I am gonna just start using my lfs for buying water and having them test my water and everything else online. saltwater.com seems like a good spot for these purchases, what other places do you recommend? Where did you get these snails? I just am not sure of all I need for the cleaning crew and that is when the lfs comes in handy but I will learn online instead. I see these packages on salwater.com but not sure if they are a bit overkill and if price is good, what should I get? again, thanks in advance!!

ok, thanks, was not sure if it was good to leave the email...
juliefolley@aol.com is my email.
tank was just about cycled and then I decided I wanted a new stand that I saw so we emptied our entire tank, all back in now and seems like I have restarted the cycle but hopefully it will go quick this time. can you tell me what types of nutrients and things I need to put in regularly. will have some mushrooms and just some soft corals...I have been putting in the calcium but this is all. I was going to do an order on saltwater.com to get started. First going to just add that cleaning crew for a week but now waiting again for my levels to clear.
