Experiences with a Toby Puffer??

I can't get a porcupine puffer, because he might eat my smaller fish. So I am looking into a Toby puffer, which will only get like 4" big. I wanted to know if anyone has had any problems keeping these with smaller fish like, clowns, grammas, firefish?? Some places same semi-aggressive others say peaceful. Any insight would help..
Thanks

Sorry I have no experience with those, but thought I mention we had a porky puffer(whos no longer with us, our bluetip carpet got him) along with 2 clownfish, a porkfish, saddleback puffer, and a dom damsel, we kept him well feed and he never bothered any one. Just adding my 2 cents. LOL Lisa :D

I'm not sure what a Toby puffer is but it may some sort of sharpnose puffer. If that is the case you can keep them with smaller fish. I have a 4" blue spotted sharpnose puffer that doesn't bother any of my fish. he will pick on any snails or crabs that he cathces popping out of there shells....later

Ya, a Toby puffer is a type of sharpnose puffer. It was between this one and a blue spotted one, which I actually think is the same fish, just different places calling them by different names. They are very good looking and I am glad to know that it doesn't bother any of your small fish.

Yes a toby will work with what you mention. I have had them in the past and still have 1 that is over 4 years old and in its tank is even a small clown goby for the same period of time. They are pretty mellow fish and keep to themselves. I believe some places call the saddleback a toby if it is black and white then that is what it is.

So I decided on the blue spot sharpnose puffer, I once saw him in a store about 3 months ago and never saw one like it, and really loved him. So I was wondering how big yours is now?

sorry you already said that. :) I will get mine in a couple of days. I think I will be really happy with him/her, even though my first love was the porky puffer. Time for a second tank :)

I think you will be happy with your choice. Down the road if you opt for the Pork just realize they get large so plan ahead.
