Hey guys, can any one tell me hpw to use or troubleshoot a ventury skimmer? I have an Aqua Euro USA Protein Skimmer 55 and I can't seem to get it to work right. Everytime that I turn it on the collection cuo overflows with "foam" and goes straight into my sump filter which is where I have it placed along with (obviously) the returning pump for the filter. I don't know what else to do or try since I tried already a lot of posibilities and formulas with the salt, and calcium, and all other chemicals. I know I need to use a protein skimmer but I just can see how I can use this one. In the petstore where I bought it it works perfectly, but in my house it only works for a couple of minutes and then it starts to verflow with foam. Any ideas?????

Did you just add the skimmer to the tank? What color is the foam... is it clear bubbles or a sort of brownish?
I'm wondering if you just added the skimmer if your water is just filthy and the skimmer is just going nuts and will keep doing so until it "catches up."

I was looking at the set up instructions, What is your water level in the sump? Have you adjusted the water outlet all the way down and work your way up very slowly. If there is too much water in the sump, it could cause something like this.

What do you mean by, tried a lot of formulas with salt calcium and other chemicals? Are you adjusting these to try to adjust the skimmer? If so dont......
This is dangerouse. Your problem can be a couple things. Water level as stated, skimmer skimming scummy water as stated, or any drain piping going from the skimmer which is dailed back, or restricted as in too small of pipe, valve closed etc. Also if the pump feeding it is to strong.
