Honestly it is probably just normal. Most clown that I have had enjoy swimming all kinds of directions, including upside down. I find most juvenile clowns will swim a lot more than adult clowns. Guess its just their version of puberty. Also, I find when the clowns sleep(when the moonlights come on) they can be found sleeping and/or swimming in the most ubnusal positions. Nothignt o worry about just a part of his personality.

It may be hosting that particular area. Clowns will host particular objects in your tank, sometimes it is a rock, power head, or just a general area. When they find an area they like they will 'host' it. Meaning they swim in the manner you've described.
Clowns will also jirate their bodies when showing submission to another clown.

My clownfish stayed at the top of the tank bc it was afraid of my damsel. I got rid of the damsel and got the clownfish a smaller clownfish friend. They are very happy, playful, and calm together.
Hope this helps.
