false percs and bubble tips

I was wondering if tank raised false perculas know about going to the bubble tip anenome, because they have never seen it before.
thanks

i wouldnt count on it 100 percent all i have in my tank as far as fish goes is 4 false clowns and 4 black and white clowns all tank raised and two bubbletip anemones i have had this set up for over a year and the clowns have never went even close to the bta kinda disappointing so i guess each case is different

Each case is different. I have not seen any data on rather or not tank raised are any more or less likely to host an anemone. I have heard of people printing out pictures or cutting pictures out of books of clowns inside anemones and then taping the pictures to the glass of the aquarium and the fish figure it out. I haven't tried it myself, but it sounds plausible.
Good luck!

how many percs do you have, you'll need one anemone for each perc if you want your fish to settle into them. I havent seen clowns share an anemone yet. they'll most likely settle in if they each have one.

i had a tank raised perc that needed a little coaxing into his anemone, and plenty of time , but he eventually got it and then when i pulled the anemone out cause it grew too big he began hosting in some zooanthids! go figure!
good luck

Well I have three percs, tank raised and one large bubble tip. Had them for a few months now and the bubble tip for close to a year... at first the clowns were swiming unaware of the bubble. Now what I have been doing is feeding the clowns directly above the bubble tip. When I feed the bubble tip, I bring the krill slowly towards it, so the clowns get to peck at the krill and start getting close to the bubble tip and reallize their nature... they still havent attached, but now they swim around it and they stare at it. One more thing I also tap on the glass to scare them! Is their instinc to swim into the bubble tip for refuge when they are scared. So when I tap on the glass they swim towards it but they still dont go in it....

waterfaller...I was thinkin' the same thing. That was a new one to me also!
I may tape the lyrics to "Hey Jude" on my reef and see if my tomato can pick up the melody!:D

just a quick thing, you will not need a anenome for each clown, i had 4 clowns and they all shared one bubble tip. But if you do have 2 eventually one will become the male and one the female and they eventually will be a mated pair.

hehehe it's not that far fetched. I have read "serious" literature that said if you have an aggressive fish such as a tang or angel that will instantly go at it's own kind....to put a mirror on the glass. Supposedly in the presence of it's own kind these fish will focus on that, and forget about the other fish in the tank....sounds stupid, but then again, I have seen dogs attack their reflection in a mirror. On the perc anemone thing......it would take a LOT longer than aquariums have even existed to remove an evolutionary trait such as that.....my tank raised false hosts in anything.....instincts are not easily changed.

Hey,this gave me a great idea....if I look through some of my books on the ocean, take a pic of a Great White, tape it to the front of my tank.....maybe it'll scare my yellowtail damsel, and he'll stay hidden in the rocks all day..and leave my clowns alone..hmmmmmm...:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

LOL - Give it a shot!
