Farsight32's Biocube

I have found most people have a thread for their tanks, so here is mine.
I have a 29g biocube HQI that I bought used for $20. It looked pretty poor when I bought it, the light was broken off and the clear hood was not included.
I decided to do a little DIY, so I built my own stand and sump. The stand has a frame made out of 2x4s, with plywood on the outside, and glass tile on the top. I finished it and painted it black. I bought some clear acrylic and made a new clear hood for the top. I drilled the tank to make the overflow to go into the sump. My sump is two ten gallon leader aquariums. I drilled a hole in one of them. Water flows from my MD into the first ten gallon, over a baffle, and through the bulkhead in the 2nd chamber into my second tank. The first chamber of my sumo has my heater, skimmer (homemade of course), and a filter sock. The second chamber has 2 inches of sand, a few liverocks, and a ball of cheato roughly the size of a basketball. I have an incandescent bulb over the cheato, and a clip-on LED on the side. The light seems to be working, I have had to pull out 1/3 to 1/2 of it every week. The second tank has my return pump (a syncra 1.5) and serves as my "oh crap chamber".
I have a Korilla 420 power head in my display. I have about 50 pounds of liverock, and 40 pounds of live sand. My lights for my display are mounted to a small piece of acrylic that sits on top of my clear hood. The lights are LED stunter strips, two blues and one 50/50 blue white.
As far as livestock goes, I have:
1 Yellow watchman Goby
1 Firefish Goby
1 Talbots Damsel
1 Peppermint shrimp
6 blue leg hermit crabs
2 trochus snails
3 nessarius (no idea how to spell it) snails
various hitchhikers
For coral I have:
1 small colony of Yukon gold Zos my brother was gonna throw away
1 small piece of comet storm chyphastrea (I believe that is what it is called)
I will keep posting as I go. If anyone has ay questions feel free to ask. If anyone has any pointers or advice, I would welcome it.

This is my sump setup

That is the homemade stand

Here is my display under the blues.

Update.
I haven't added anything to my tank, other than my brothers tiger hermit crab that ate his ultra maxima clam. He now lives in my sump. I trimmed my cheato and traded it in for some store credit at the LFS.
The corals are looking good. I have noticed a little bit of growth on the comet storm, and I think I finally found the place where my Yukon Golds are happy.
The fish are getting along very nicely. Everyone is eating well. I am happy to report no serious issues, (crosses fingers). I am debating whether I should add any more fish. I kind of want to keep things very under-stocked, so that I can have some extra system stability. But on the other hand, I really do like the black misbar clowns I keep seeing at the fish store. I'll have to wait and think on it for awhile. But hey, patience can't be a bad thing here.
I also heard on another thread about an algae turf scrubber. It really got me interested, as I love to try and DIY everything. I will continue to research this little gizmo and see if I might want one.

The not adding more fish decision was forced on me. My brother has a black misbar clown and a regular ocelaris. He decided he wanted to add a new regular ocelaris, to get a pair of regular clowns. Well he brought it home, and fell out of love with it. He couldn't part with his misbar, and so he put brought it to me. How could I refuse a free clownfish? So here he is

I tested my water today. Calcium is 460, KH is 10, 0 nitrates, phosphates, nitrites, and amonia. I also sold another bundle of chaeto (it's growing fast), and have got a nice bit of credit saved. Hopefully I'll have enough for another clown soon, because I gotta have a pair. That's all for now.

It has started to get much colder, so I added a second heater to keep my temperature up. Things are looking pretty good.
I have been testing my KH twice a week, and it has consistently been dropping. I buffer it up to 10.5, but by the time i test a few days later it is usually 8. Is this normal? What causes it to drop so much?

I thought I lost a clownfish today. I had not seen him for a few days. It appears he jumped into my overflow and then took a ride down the tube from my overflow into my filter sock. I checked in there today, and found him swimming around. He seems to be ok, but I am going to keep an eye on him. I guess he is a bit of a thrill seeker.

Thrill seeker!
I had a snowflake eel pull that on me once, found him down in my sump tangled in some cheato! Cool tank, following along :)

So today I have a question. What is the best way to take a picture of my tank? I would like to post some better pictures, since I don't think mine are very good.
And just so everyone knows, I am completely open to feedback and constructive criticism. You hate my liverock, you think I am a terrible carpenter, you want to see more of samurai Jack (my firefish), I don't care. Just let me know, feedback is the best.

Well, I haven't updated in awhile. Sorry about that. I have been in the middle of finishing final projects, and getting ready for final exams.
On a happier note, everything has been running well. I got rid of my talbot's damsel. He just seemed like he didin't fit in as the lone damsel.
I also added a scooter blenny awhile back. He has been doing very well, taking mysis when I feed, and gulping down the copepods I have growing in the tank.
just to keep the listing up to date. Current fish:
2 Ocelaris clowns
1 Scooter blenny (red)
1 Yellow watchman Goby
1 Firefish Goby
