Feather Duster is losing its feathers

i bought two feather dusters about a week ago. One was Hawaiin and the other I really dont know. Anyways, the Hawaiin started acting funny yesterday. It started to stand straight up with its stem more exposed (its insides) This morning about 10 minutes ago, my wife turned on the lights and said, "Hey come here!" Well, its feathers fell off completely. It sank back into its hole but within a few mins it started coming back out like it was looking for its feathers.
My question is this. Will it survive and regrow its feathers?
What could have caused this?

The will shed their crown, the feathers, when stressed or when water quality goes down. check all your levels. It will regrow a new crown in about 3 weeks or so. its still alive and if it was healthy enough before it lost its only means of nutrition, then it might stay alive. Good luck!

I had a real scare myself. I kept rearranging my dusters to different locations and one had "grown" onto a rock. I pulled the "stem" or tube completely off! I was so freaked out that I threw the tube!
My tubeless duster stayed where it was open 24/7 and has since regrown its tube. It's been a month or so and the tube is apx. 2" long so far. It can finally retract fully. (The tube's somewhere under the rocks... Wonder if it will grow another duster! <smile>

Mine had a hole eaten in it several times by my evil tang. I put some rocks around it and its not a problem anymore. It regrew the hole easily. They are pretty hardy it seems. Check your levels
