it can take them up to a week to be fairly well attached to a rock....
u have to fit them in a tight crevise that way they wont fall out do to the water current or a fish swimming by... if u fit them in a tight spot should take about a week and they will be there so make sure its the spot u want them to stay

Although, I've had feather dusters move themselves to different spots, especially when they shed their tube and build a new one.

I thought they were happiest in the substrate.... thats where mine hangs out.
