Feather Duster Secretions

I was watching my feather duster secrete some type of cloudy substance it did this for about a half hour. I have four other feather dusters don't know if they are trying to reproduce or what that stuff was? any suggestions.

Poke them with what, a finger? Or does it have to be something that will startle them like a bbq skewer? why would it have to be in a bowl? Why couldnt you just poke them in the tank and let the current mix them up? Just curious as this is new to me but sounds like a plan.
