Feather Duster?

I've had my feather duster for about 2 weeks now. It was doing great, settled itself in a crevis. I came home today and the feather part, which I later found out is called a crown, was detached and I thought it was dead. I'm trying to find more info about the worms and haven't found much. Can anyone tell me why it may have dropped its crown? I felt the worm and it still feels very much alive as its not mushy and it wont detach from the rock. Any reasons why they do this?

I read somewhere that they occasionally drop their crown. They grow back just fine.
Don't take my word completely though.

not sure, but dont wrry they r very hardy and will thrive usually no matter wat. give it time and it should be bak to norm.
