feather dusters? Is this normal?

I purchased snails recently and to my surprise some had featherdusters popping out of their shells. I got two animals for the price of one! Is this common with snail shells? At my LFS they keep the snails and the featherdusters together in the same tank, so I guess this explains where they came from. If the featherdusters get too big for its hole will it hurt the snail or will it abandon the shell and find another home?

I can't answer those questions, but obviously it's common because I bought 5 mexican turbos this weekend, and two of the five have featherdusters on their shells.
