:notsure: I got a new feather star and i wanted to know if you guys have had any experience with them it seems pretty cool......ive heard that they are hard to take care of....ill see what happens
Virtually IMPOSSIBLE to care for....DISMAL survival record. I really strongly discourage there care in anything but very very very large tanks with a full blown refugium with lots of larval invertebrates. Even crinoid experts can't keep these things alive for long.
Pristine water quality, long acclimation is a must. Definitely specific gravity of 1.025-1.026. Most suffer from shipping issues. Nocturnal, and will curl up during the day.
Almost certainly doomed.
well i have had it since wednesday so far so good. i dont know how much he is eating but thinking to take him back. yes it is all curled up in the day and as soon as the lights go out it is on the move, really cool to watch
Just to let you all know about our progress on the feather star, we are doing ok. Someone told me that they are filter feaders so we do DT in our tank and he seems to be alright for now. We will see how he keeps up.
Unfortunately, they can take several months to starve. I strongly suggest a far more diverse diet including oyster eggs, rotifers, cyclopeeze and just about anything else.
