Welp saw a feather star at my LFS and well i'd like to get info on it. My roommate is pretty set on wanting to buy it and throw it in my tank when it gets more established. But would like some info, did a search on google and such and it turned up nothing.

Please do not purchace the feather star, it will not survive in your tank, it will just slowly starve to death. The are not aquacultered and therefore are always taken from the wild to sell to customers who don't have a chance of meeting it's needs. You rarely seem them in puplic aquariums because they need the small plankton that float by in currents to surive, this means the ocean. I know they are very beautiful and extremely interesting and exotic but this creatures should not have to pay the price for our desire to have such an interesting tank inhabitant. There is so many other worth while intervertebrates.

I don't recommend getting one. They're beautiful, but extremely hard to keep. Our LFS has one and the guy won't even sell it to me because they're so tough to keep. It came as a mistake in a shipment and now they're basically stuck with it. People that do have success with them normally have short term success (less than 2-3 years). You have to work so hard to keep them healthy, if you're successful at all. It's just not worth it.
