Feeding a Brain Coral

When feeding a brain coral I have a few questions:
1) Do you have to fight off the hermits because they dig into the coral to get the fish? I put a 1 inch silverside piece on the coral and the hermits attack the coral until the coral spits it out. Tonight I had to gather up all the hermits and put them in a container.
2) Do I have to feed each side of the coral or is one side good enough?
3) How often do you feed yours?
4) How long until the coral is done feeding on the silverside? I would like to dump the hermits back in tonight without it getting attacked.

I just posted this in another thread so bear with me if its redundant, but they do filterfeed just fine. No need for something like a silverside.
Before and after- 6 drops of phytomax, one scoop phytoplan, one cube Cyclops and a cube of some homeade gruel.

My favities doesnt go quite as extreme, but I have two open brains aside from this Lobo and they all go ape when food touches the water. Can post pics if you like.

Well mine opens up huge when I put a silverside in. Its crazy and it seems to DEF. enjoy it. I was told to feed it maybe once a month. I got to say though it is a hassle keeping those hermits away though. Nobody else feeds thiers? I will take some pics to show all the shapes it turns to when food is in it.

I am trying to budget for a new cam, Yes whole tank opens like a nuthouse when I feed. My camara makes everything look overexposed and cant pic up on the detail : (
