Feeding a hammer coral

Just got a great deal on my first coral, it's a biege colored hammer with 4 thick branches. So far it seems to be happy where I put it, it puffs up most of the time, and seems be be shriveled in the morning (sort of like me), lol. I picked up some frozen baby brine, and also have some phytoplankton, for the cucumber and LR clams. Is the best thing to melt the frozen brine in some tank water and use a syringe to squirt at the coral, will it just pick up stuff floating through the currents? I only have about 55 watts or so over the tank, a 50/50 and a 20k bulb.

I use DT's and Kent's microvert. My hammer has never taken brine directly from me. I do feed with brine, but just put it in and let it flow around.

I feed noth my hammers with brine from a turkey baster--- give them a shot of it right in the center of each stalk. they will thank you for it!

I have two hammers. The green branching one that I have will take whole or half pieces of krill directley. The purple "non branching" one that I have will not take anything I try to feed it. I guess it just eats dissolved organics b/c it appears to be doing great.
