Feeding Clowns

Do you all feed them twice a day? The lady at the LFS said she often skips days and feeds overy other day. I've heard several varying ideas on this.

i feed my clowns once every other day, but i feed them something different each time. it is best to feed a variety of foods (not at the same time). if you feed flake foods put the flakes in the water instead of sprinkling them on top.

Why do some say to feed them twice a day, but you say feed every other day? Why is there so much variance?

not really sure. you can feed more than once per day or every day but you need to feed very little each time. if i feed flakes (spectrum or formula 1 or formula 2) i feed 1 to 2 flakes per fish. most people tend to overfeed their fish unitentionally. i have fed my fish every other day for a year now with no problems. anthias do need to be fed several times per day. you just need to monitor the amount of food you feed each time.

Another thing to consider is that fish are like people. Even the same types of fish can some times have a varied. A lot of the time its not too big of an inconvenience, but I'd suggest watching them next time you feed them.

fishes still do well when you feed them every other day.
reason for not feeding them daily or twice aday because your water paremeter will change very quickly if you feed them daily due to the extra waste from the fishes. And sometimes, ppl don't like their fishes to grow too fast.

Depending on what type of fish your keeping.....With Clowns, it's ok....With Tangs, Anthias, etc. needs multiple feedings....

Feed your fish what they will eat in a few minutes. In other words, don't overfeed. I feed my fish daily. It is also important to feed QUALITY foods. Brine and flakes will not keep them healthy. Mix it up. Pick up some frozen formula foods. Your fish will thank you!
