My eel is eating good right now....but all he will eat is frozen squid cubes by aqua yums. he wont eat cut squid, freeze dried krill, forzen clams (cubes), sliversides, or brine. he used to eat all these, but now all he will eat is the squid cubes. any ideas on how to get him back to eating all the other good stuff? again he is eating very well, just not eating any variety. thanks, bo

Seems like some eels are just very fussy about what they eat. My 2 only will eat Krill and Siversides (both frozen of course). They used to like Squid but won't touch it now. I figure as long as they eat something I won't worry too much. The baby eel has about doubled in size since I got it in Jan. the other bigger one has got fatter but size is hard to tell as he only comes out half way (he is a lazy devil wants dinner served to him at his place) got him in Nov last year.

My snowflake has grown attached to a frozen food called Brine Shrimp Plus, which has a large variety of ingredients including squid and clams and has refused all else. The LFS was feeding him squid but he didn't hesitate to try the BSP even though he has refused everything else I have offered.

I think it is a case of finding what the eel likes and seeing they get it. Doesn't mean not to try other things and that helps you get a list of what your eel likes. After all I hate liver but its good for me (I still won't eat it).

When we first introduced our eel into his trigger tank, it took him forever to figure out how to hunt his food. He went hungry for a long time because he was either too dumb or too stubborn to go get it himself. They just have to come around I guess.
