feeding featherdusters

I just bought one and want to make sure that it is being fed and is healthy. Do I need to feed it anything or will it get its food from within the water column? There are no corals in the tank and the only food that goes in is pellets for the damsels(dont ask) and shrimp for the lion and eel. also, are they tolerant of nitrates or no?

Um I don't know about the nitrates thing but they eat phytoplankton and they are also filter feeders. I had to buy phytoplankton(it's refrigerated liquid) for my flame scallop

Ill go tomorrow to see if I can find some. should I use a turkey baster to squirt it down to it?

bought some microvert. think that is what it is called. the featherduster that I bought last week is out almost all the time now and the coco that I bought thursday is staying out more and more. when I go to feed I turn of my return pump and try to spray the food at them but from a distance
