HOw should i feed my mushroom? HOw do i know if they have eaten? I bought some phytoplankton but i am not sure how to feed it to the coral? Could i also feed the coral brine shrimp, or mysis shrimp?

You don't have to directly feed them. They will filter it out themselves. I'm not sure if shrooms eat DT's directly or indirectly. The Dt's feeds other things that then feed the shrooms.

I read somewhere that you should feed each individual mouth brine shrimp or plankton. Is that true or not? And how do you know if the mushroom has eaten something.

Maybe someoneelse can chime in, but I've never feed mine directly and they are very large. They've grown like weeds over the past year.

Not directly, but I just did some quick research and it was recommended that period feedings of each individual polyp bee feed zooplankton or brine. In light of this, I'm going to try some direct feedings periodically. They have grown tremendously, particularly my ricordia and blue shrooms just through capturing the food in the water column themselves that I put in the tank.

I feed my mushrooms about once a week and I went from a rock with five small shrooms to a rock with over 40 and some are now 5" in dia.
Not every shroom will eat when fed though... you can lead a shroom to food but...
I feed all my corals (even my maze brain) frozen mysid shrimp (less fat and more vitamins than brine, so I'm told). I use a turkey baster and GENTLY expel mysid shrimp about 2" over each coral. The shroom will curl its edges up to form a purse and after about 10 minutes will flatten again with a swolen stalk. One of my large shrooms did the smae thing to my clown goby.... my friend saw it and didn't tell me, he didn't know what was happening.
good luck, hope this helps.
Have you ever seen

I have never done direct feeding of mysis or brine shrimp to mine, I do give them a shot from turkey baster of the DT's when I feed. I dunno, they've gotten big and keep pushing little new ones off the rocks. My hairy mushrooms are getting enormous.

I have seen my shrooms close up on sinking pellets and eat them, I wll have to try the shrimp thing, to see if they like it;)

I feed the tank a large chunk of frozen brine each day due to my shrooms eating up the shrimp. The polyps are the most aggresive eaters instantly closing up on brine shrimp that come there way. I often have to manually place brine or cut up store bought shrimp on the other types of shrooms. It takes some patience but, the pay off in growth is worth it.

ya i just tried that no go, my purples/watermelons/spotted all just let it float on by. I even held a piece to it and nothing...

Try silver sides... my love those too. I thaw everything in 2 cups of tank water and then I pull out the flavored water with the baster and hose all my corals... wait 5-10 minutes and THEN try feeding everything. Some shrooms feed 1 week and not the other. My brain instantly sends out sweepers and swells up as soon as I flavor the water... They've got me trained.
