Feeding off of live rock?

My wild caught seahorse likes one particular piece of live rock in my tank more than any other piece. He always hangs on to it, with his snouth touching or almost touching it. I was wondering if he was eating microorganisms off of the rock, is that possible? Also I have been feeding his live brine shrimp, but am going to try to weane him to frozen mysis, anyway you suggest doing this? Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Most likely your seahorse is hunting pods. These little critters are a favorite snack of seahorses.
As for weaning...I would buy "garlic" a food enhancer. Soak the frozen mysis in it for at least 10 minutes.
Do you have a turkey baster? It is very useful for spot feeding.
I would start by soaking both brine and mysis in the garlic. Feed 3-4 of each with the turkey baster every half hour or so. You must hold the turkey baster absolutely vertical when you place it into the tank to keep the food from escaping. Slowly release the food close to your seahorse..one or two at a time if you can. Once you see your seahorse start snicking up some of the mysis slowly reduce the amount of brine until you feeding all frozen mysis.
After your seahorse is eating frozen I can show you how to dish train your seahorse
