Feeding procedures?

I was just wondering if folks turn off filters/powerheads/CLs during feeding. I tossed in some mysis shrimp the other day and there was a serious "shrimp storm" in the tank. :scared:
Sure, it was distributed all over the tank, but some of my fish were just dashing around trying to get some. Would it be better if I turned off some of the flow?

i turn off my skimmer, filter, and powerhead. i have them all on one power strip so i just flip a switch. i leave one moderately strong powerhead on which is inthe middle of the tank, so it spreads the food out around the tank. and i leave another piece of crap powerhead that barely works, so it will blow the uneaten food back to the other side of the tank (most of my fish stay on one side of the tank). after a few minutes i turn everything back on

I turn off my return pump so stuff doesn't get "lost" into the sump. But I leave my in tank powerheads on to move stuff around.

Agree with Ophiura, I live my powerheads on and never had problem...

That's why I love my wavemaker!! I hit a button and it all turns off but 1 powerhead for 10 minutes. I turn off everything when I feed my corals though...
