I read i should do this to help keep my mappa's teeth wore down...
So i give him the shell and all?
Is it good for him to eat a shell?
Just throw a clam in the tank?
how often do you suggest?
anything else that I can ware his teeth down by doing?
thanks

Also try krill and shrimp with the shell on, snails, crabs, etc.
They would eat this sort of thing in the wild, BTW :)

If a puffer doesn't eat things with a hard shell, the "beak" (or teeth) will continue to grow to a point where the fish cannot eat, which will lead to them starving to death (obviously). In the wild, these fish eat shrimp, crabs, clams, and other inverts with shells. Look on a popular video sharing site (You something....do you get what I mean?????) and enter "puffer eat" or "puffer eat clam" to see what this will look like, it is actually very neat to watch!

even if you keep a puffer and dont feed him things that will wear down their beaks when eating...they do have the brains to notice their beaks are getting big and will chew on your LR to wear them down as well
