Get something meatier, like a chunk of cocktail shrimp (uncooked from the grocery store) or squid or clams. Cut a small chunk then feed it by hand, it should take it from you.

Some people drop the food near them or squirt it to them by turkey baster....I don't have the patience for the latter.:D

we buy the medium shrimp at the fish counter. After I clean it up, I slice them in 1/2. "Chip" gets half about 2 times a week.
The little pig comes to the top of the tank and leans outwards and we place the piece in the center and he starts to gobble it up.
Not reef safe though.......

I feed my red general a chunk of frozen krill once a week. I just pick him up and place the food under him and it's gone in a few hours.

not unless you just got done changing your oil then went and played with some gasoline... and then decided to try and get the oil off with WD-40

Don't red generals have venomous spines? Not sure I'd want to pick that up. For that matter, I really try not to stick my hands in the tank unless I have to.

They can eat most meaty things. Honestly the frozen krill/shrimp is probably the easiest and cheapest. One bag should last a LONG time - mine sure has - I got it over a year ago and the bag is still over half full. But then again, the star is the only one that gets the krill, and at a rate of once a week, the bag isn't going to disappear fast.
