Feeding these guys

Hi Guys
This is a food question, in my 155 gallon semi-aggressive tank.
I have one Angel fish in my tank, and have been told that sponge is vital to the diet of this kind of fish.
I have been placing micro-algy strips into the tank for the 2 tangs, but also brine scrimp as their main diet. The puffer eats just about everything - what a pig!!
These strips stay in the tank for 24 hours, so I just keep adding more when they are gone.
I have been feeding the Angel 1 small cube of frozen sponge food, every other day, although he still likes the brine. The other fish don't seem to be too interested in the sponge food, and the angel doesn't eat much of the cube.
OK. here's the question!!!
Instead of me feeding these sponge cubes, would it be better buying some natural sponge, letting it grow in the tank itself - would this be a better idea, or would be disapper too quickly?
I'm just not sure how much I should be feeding these guys. I have had the tank about 2 months and still learning.
Any advice, would be geat!

No I would not try buying a real sponge and growing it. Expensive short lived treat. I am a bit surprised your angel doesn't take the sponge type angel frozen stuff though--mine loves it as well as the algae strips I use for my tang (supposedly for the tang but even the trigger eats it)
Sounds like you're feeding plenty though and as long as your angel is at least eating something I'm sure she'll be fine.
I eventually did quit doing "individual food" though. Never wound up in the right mouth anyway. I now buy a big variety pack of frozen cubes, which include angel formula, and algae based ones, amongst other meaty types. They all eat any of them, and are not picky at all, and I'm sure they are all getting some of what they're "supposed" to get.
Good Luck
