Feeding your corals Survey

I've just begun my first reef tank. It is a mixed tank, a couple of candycane colonies, some sps and a few zoas and other polyps. I'm feeding Phytomax, zoomax, and Chromamax. basically I feed it bc that is what my trusted lfs recommends and feed their personal tanks as well as their frag/growout tanks.
What do you feed your corals, if anything and why?
I'm specifically curious about oyster eggs, (b/c they are about $40 for a tiny little tub and the refrigerated plankton they sell...)
In response to my specific tank what would you use to promote rapid growth and how would you change it?
What would you use to spot the candy canes, and your method.
Here is the link to my tank build thread

Not that I am by any means up to the level of the experts on this site, I feed phyto and zoo plankton, I just got a Duncan coral that eats mysis shrimp and I also use a product called Coral Boost, it's filled with vitamins minearals and also promotes coraline algae growth.

I use both Rod's Food and home made mixture daily. I do also feed the clams and select corals with cyclopeeze (frozen bar), coral frenzy and this Tahitian blend (CandyCane recommended).

The frenzy is dry. I mix it with a cup of water from the tank and let it set 5 or 10 min before adding to the tank. The mysis & brine are frozen which I thaw out before feeding. DT's are live marine phytoplankton.Dry or live it's what ever your coral does best on.

If adding live phytoplankton to your water collumn would they reproduce?

i feed meaty foods like cyclo-peeze, chopped shrimp, chopped fish, and misis to the LPS, and nothing to the SPS. i feed the LPS because it makes them grow faster, plus, i enjoy watching them eat.

lol, when I scrape my glass, the peppermint shrimps come out and go to town, but only on the really hard green algae.
