Feeding

I have a cardinal that is between 3-4 inches. I went in the backyard and found an earth worm and throw it in the aquarium. The fish had the worm in his mouth before it was 3 inches below the surface. Is there any reason this shouldn't be done? I made sure no dirt was on the outside of the worm or anything.

Ack, I never even thought about that. I was just impressed he ate the thing. Hope it doesnt have any lasting effects. Thanks for your advice.
