i was browsing the message board and saw that someone had referred to feeding their open brain. Mine is fantastic, healthy and I've never fed it. I also saw mention of feeding anemones and that they should be tan in color, not white. Some info please.

Most corals, all anemones will benifit from frequent feeding. I feed my anemones 2-3 times a week, and my open brain and other LPS coral 1-2 times a week. Corals and anemones have an algae that lives within their tissue called zooxanthellea, its what gives them their color and they need it in order to survive, if the coral/anemone is starved for food and/or light, this algae will leave the coral or die, leaving behind what is generally refered to as a bleached coral, white or clear in color. The coral will usually not survive long after it bleaches unless something is done to compensate. In short all anemones, and other corals need food :) HTH

what do you feed an open brain? I use phytoplankton powder for all the filter feeders.. i have frozen reef cubes of shrimp and scallops and that kind of stuff for the bubble coral and anemones.. the brain obviously eats the phytoplankton powder but should i also be leaving a chunk of frozen food on him?
