Fenrir's Tank Diary

Well I figured I start a dairy like everyone else, and show off some of my tank. I have a 14 gallon biocube thats been up for almost 2 months now. My stock right now consists of:
1 Percula Clown-Sherbert
1-Cleaner Shrimp-The Tickler
1-Emerald Crab-Bruno
1-4 Wheel Drive Goby-Scoop
2-Blue Legged hermits
2-Turbo Snails
And tons of baby turbos in my tank.
It's pretty intereseting it's like my clown is hosting the goby. He will always swim above the goby all day long. I also had a little of a scare today, my goby was swimming near the top and I was worried he was dying, but as soon as I added some dry brine he ate a couple of pieces and then went back to sifting sand.
My tank as a whole

And last but not least a picture of sherbert

Enjoy the pics, I plan on going out this weekend and looking at some Green ricordia.

My 4WD goby scared me the same way a couple weeks ago. I was so sure he was dying. Another name for them is "signal goby"--he was signalling for another goby! I'm not sure how much research you did on these little guys before you bought him (I know I didn't do nearly enough!), but they don't usually survive too long in small tanks because they eat copepods from the sand and there's not nearly enough to sustain them in a small young tank. Because I didn't do my research, I'm now handfeeding him mysis shrimp twice a day with the pump off to make sure he gets enough to eat and doesn't starve to death (but hey--it's a labor of love). My little guy is so cute--he will come right up to the turkey baster at feeding time, and if I don't squeeze a shrimp out quick enough for his liking, he'll stick his mouth up into it to grab some! I hope you're feeding him something other than brine, because it's just not enough nutrition for him--it's pretty much empty calories!
The tank's looking good! Good luck with everything and keep us posted! :cheer:

I didn't know that he ate pods, on this site it jsut says brine and pellets. Iv'e been feeding him freeze dried vitamin enriched brine shrimp and frozen brine shrimp. He doesnt like the pellets that I feed my shrimp and crab. Will that be enough? Or should I run out and get some mysis shrimp?

Now I am really worried, all the sites now are telling me that they must be in pairs or they will not live long. Does anyone think I should go out and get a mate for him? Can my tank even take the bioload?

i feed my clown frozen brine shrimp, loves it .
i guess i'm unsure about the other clown..i just started a 12 gal aquacube,
i have 2 snails , 2 crabs and the clown,
i'm planning on getting on getting a flame hawk , they said that would be fine for mine, so i think the clown would be fine..

No, don't go get another one! There's no distinguishable characteristics between males and females, so there's no way to tell what you already have and what you'd be getting. The only way to guarantee you'd have a pair is to go buy a mated pair, and usually the mated pairs are caught that way in the wild.
Yes, fish usually love brine, it's a nice treat for them, but that's not enough for them. They eat a variety of things in the ocean to get all the nutrients they need to survive and flourish. Think about it this way--I love cookies, but I wouldn't stay healthy if that's all I ate, even if they were vitamin-enriched. I feed mysis shrimp and a reef plankton blend to my clowns and goby. I feed twice a day and I usually take 5-10 minutes each time to make sure everyone gets enough and that the shrimp doesn't chase the goby away from his food. I usually feed the goby just 1 or 2 little shrimp at a time with a turkey baster, then after he finishes that I'll give him some more. After a few times of that, he'll let me know when he's done--he just won't take any more food. If he's still hungry, he hops. He's spoiled, but it's worth it to me to take the time to make sure he's well-fed. After all, I made the decision to bring him home, he didn't make the decision to live in my tank, so the least I can do for him is (and it's my responsibility) to make sure he's healthy and thriving. :happyfish

Ok thank, I will definantly go out and get some variety of some food tomrrow(Car is in the body shop). Thanks for the help AZ the goby is serioulsy one of the coolest little fish I have ever had, and he has been doing an awesome job of stirring up my sand. Is there a certian brand of food I should be getting for him?

I can't remember off the top of my head what brand of food I get, all I know is that it's frozen. The mysis shrimp has a white foil covering with purple lettering on it, and the reef plankton blend are frozen orange cubes and packaged in an orange sleeve.
Lemme know how your fish do with it!
