Beautiful pictures of your fish! You have some very purple rock. Very nice!! I really like the aquascape job you did.

Thanks, I have always had good luck with my rocks, I just redid the aquascape, so some is hidden. Now I just need to replace my corals I lost and my tank will be good.

Teresa, I really like your aquascaping...Looks great...My design is almost the same as yours, here my tank with the addition of 8lbs of Tonga branch, what a huge difference it makes, just gives the tank some depth and interest. On each piece of Tonga I fragged some zoa's, so in a few months the Tonga will be covered in colored zoa's and will look really wild looking. Tonga is really light and just a few pounds goes a long ways.

When I was 1st looking into adding the tonga I was thinking about getting 20-40lbs, good thing I didn't as I would not have enough room....Funny thing is about 1/3 of the tonga you don't see because it's stuck down in the LR. The piece in the center of the tank, under the Hippo is about 14" long

hey, quick question. see how the coraline sorta died off/turned white at the top of your left overflow, any clue why that happens?
same thing happens in my tank, but it sorta happens in one area and works its way around my tank. a patch dies off and it creeps one way or anotehr. by time it moves, the first part that died off grows back, so i never loose all my coraline. just a patch at a time. any clue why yours looks like that?
nice tank, everything looks nice and clean. i can seriously tell your water quality is good just by looking at your FTS. looks crystal clear.

Coraline algae needs lighting to grow, so they will only grow to where the light starts on the wall, above that line there is minimal lighting due to reflectors, housing, light direction etc...

eh, i dont think it was the lights. 250w MH over a 30gallon tank means there is light basically everywhere. thanks anyway.

This is very common, see how there is almost a perfect line across the tank with respect to the heigth of the purple algae growth. Even though there is lighting from top to bottom on the wall of the entire tank, there is a defined line where your getting direct light and and indirect light.
I first noticed this on my frag tank and thought it was kinda odd that I had this direct line all the way across the tank that had coraline algae below the line and none above the line even though the entire wall from top to bottom had intense 250w MH lighting, as a test I raised my lights about 4" and sure enough the coraline algae height increased about .75"
