:joy: i just wanted to share a few new pics .... my questions are this.... since i have gotten my new lighting about 4 months back my anemones are growing huge!!!! the purple one has about grown 4X's its original size.... and now he is starting to touch or get close to other corals on the sand and rock work.... the white one is getting too big too!!...
my questions is how can i get them to release from the bottom where there foot is placed.... ??
they are stuck to the bottom really good!!!
i wanted to take them back to the LFS cuz they just are taking up too much room in my tank....
what has any one else done with trying to remove anemones??
the other pics are just for enjoyment hope you like..!!!

thanks for any info !!!

I think its really really really bad to try to 'pry' the foot loose... may wanna take the whole rock to the lfs or maybe once you take the rock outta the water put it into a bucket with little water and maybe the anemone will crawl off the rock.. dont take my advice on that though.. wait till someone like Thomas responds to this..
As far as your tank though.. it looks really sweet :) Can you frag those zoos for me some time ? =c)

thanks for the info Speg!!! yeah they arent attached to the rocks the only two stuck to the rocks are my 2 RBTA's and those i can get off at all!!!
the other 2 are my LTA and they have there foot in the sand bed stuck to the bottom of the tank.... i just dont know how i can get them to move so i can take them out.... i like them and all but they are just getting way to big.... all i really want is one of my RBTA's but i dont know how id get those off either.... i know i cant just hank them out cuz i could tear there foot and kill them and i dont wanna do that ive had them so long and would feel terrible...
thanks for the compliment.... everything in my tank is just growing way too fast i just had to split my GSP up cuz they are spreading like crazy.... ones growing up a nice sized tonga branch im going to keep that one the other is growing on some of my LR i moved that over to the right side of the tank and im going to frag it and take it back to the LFS this week... the other thing i wanna frag is my huge colt but im really affraid to do that too lol.... i wanna try to frag some shrooms and make a mixed shroom rock cuz all of my shrroms keep multiplying too .... and my waving hand xenia is growing like crazy and growing across the sand bed now.... i guess it could be worse and everything was dying but i just wish things would get so big and spread soo fast...
yeah i would be willing to frag the pinks once they spread a little more .... i wanna try to frag some to some other small pieces of LR one of these days and see if i can get them to multiply.... the only thing is i dont know how to ship live stuff like this.... ill keep you in mind let me know what you think?
thanks again

With those anemones maybe you can place a powerhead blowing straight at them and maybe they'll move somewhere else where you can get them out of the tank.
Also why you afraid to cut the colt? :) They are pretty darn hardy... you almost cant go wrong!
As far as shipping live stuff.. You know how your LFS wraps up a new fish/coral for you to take home? Thats the same way you ship them. Maybe find out what kinda temp the place you're shipping to has and use either heat/cold packs in the shipping box. There is a thread on the fragging forum on this site that gives advice on shipping live stuff :) Its always good to try and ship overnight or at least next day.. even though its insanely expensive =c(
Keep me in mind about those zoos though... nice pinks like that are hard to find for me here... and on the net they are so expensive.

changing the current aka putting a powerhead in their direction will probably get them moving. That is how I keep my anemone in one location, there are 2 powerheads that form an X to keep him from roaming and damaging other corals. While most ppl can frag a colt well I had bad luck with it. I waited too long and my colt decided it was time to branch off himself and it was his demise. I think it was a combo of the stress of division and an uncommonly hot week that did him in but thought word of caution wouldnt be a bad idea. Your tank is looking very nice!

how much are they on the net?? i got those for $15 and there is 40 of them on the rock...
then ship them to you.... hmmm its just a thought let me know what you think the only thing is you live so far....... or i can just try to let these ones spread... the funny thing is that they have had the other 2 pieces of pinks now for over 2 weeks and no one has bought them.... for that price i think they are an awesome deal....
anyways as for the colt i know ive heard they are very easy to cut up ive just never done it before so its kinda like first time jittrers lol.... im going to have to soon though cuz hes just way too big hes grown basically like 5X's his original size ....
yeah im going to figure something out with the anemones ill see what i can do ... i just hate having to rearrange stuff...

thanks for the info msd2 ill try the power head idea and see what happens .... yeah thats the only thing i dont want to cut something up then have it die and maybe even worse have it pollute my tank.... its almost like i need a seperate hospital tank where i can let them recover in....
thats an idea maybe i can do that ...
what do you guys think??

That would be a frag tank :) thats my next to-do project as well.
That sounds good if you could get me one for 15 bucks! :p the shipping would probably be 30-40 bucks though for the 15 dollar coral.

lol u dont have to overnight zoo's, they can take a few days in the dark. If you guys arent that far apart 2 day service, maybe even 3 would be best and much cheaper. Zoo's are pretty hearty lil buggers. Shipping is pretty easy, just ask your lfs if they have any containers left over from their shipment, usually they have smaller ones that work, if not any and lab that has specimens sent back and forth is perfect.

I've heard mixed things about shipping zoos.. while I agree they are hardy i've heard of peoples dying during shipping even after one day.. most likely due to the heat or something though.. probably need to add a cold pack with the package.. was 100 degrees here today.

I have heard that using a ice cube to encourage them to release their grip can work...might be worth checking into.
Your display is looking really good...best of luck relocating the beasts.

yeah i think ill have to set up a seperate frag tank.... maybe i can set it up right next to it with a closed loop system that way i can dont need to reset up a whole new system.... maybe just get like a 30 gallon tank or something like that .....
thanks for the compliments Chrisarc and NMreef
yeah i have heard something about ice cubes before too but miune always melt so darn fast i tried doin that with the RBTA's one time in hopes of having one release .... but the ice cube would melt so fast that it didnt really have time to get the critter cold... ya and these things are beast ... i cant beleieve how fast they can grow in good conditions...
shipping is just so iffy to me i dont know how they even do it in the first place lol....
thanks for the info everyone ill see what works and let u know....
and i just got back from my LFS and picked me up a blue linkia.... i know they are very hard to take care of and thats why i was always sketchy of getting one but i think it should be fine as long as i acclimate it right...
