Few Questions on Mixing Clowns.

I have a 46 gal tank and I have 4 fish, 1 of which is a clown. It's a "nemo" but IDK if it's an Occelaris, or true/false Percula.
I had 2 of them, but the male recently jumped. They were both my 1st fish, which I got 1 yr ago. I have a few questions:
1) How can I tell the species? (occ, perc, true/false?)
2) Is it okay for me to add 2 more? Or should they not be kept in odd numbers, or max two in my size tank etc.??
3) would I be okay adding black and white, and a nakked clown? (once I figure out what I have)

I would keep it to 2 clowns of the same species and make sure the new one you get is not the same size as the clown in the tank.
View the Percula and Ocellaris clowns in the fish section. Its fairly easy to distinguish the difference.

I should have done a search before. I always do, but I forgot this time.
I'll check what it is when I get home. I think I'll add a black and white if it's the same species. (fingers crossed)

I think it's ocellaris, unfortunately.
The black around the white is pretty thin, and eye is mostly black/dark brown.
I paid $15 BTW, so it's even more likely to be false right?
That means I have no chance of getting another clown other than an orange ocellaris, correct?

Ocels come in B&W, Percs don't.
So you'd be fine with a B&W ocel.

That combination is very striking. I have a pair, they have been together for a few weeks and getting along like 2 peas in a pod. They currently host a colony of palays. I am planning an upgrade so I can give them an anemone.

Wow. That's great news. I was looking at the clowns on this site, and the I forgot that they name them FALSE PERC's rather than Ocellaris. I saw the work Percula, so i just assumed it was true, and that I couldn't get it.

I really like the combo too. Good luck with yours.
One last question though...
I really like the clowns that are entirely black, down to the nose. But I would like to get a clown that is smaller than my current (which is a female right now, the male recently jumped).
I was reading up on them and saw that they get darker as they age, so I'm assuming I won't be able to find a fully black one that is small.
My questions is, if I buy a small one and it has some orange, Can I be fairly certain it will eventually be all black?
Also, APPROX. how long does it take for them to turn all black??

From my understanding, it's pretty normal. The females tend to be aggressive towards the male. Hopefully it doesn't get too extreme though.
I was wondering if that's what happened in my tank, if the female was picking on the male and made him jump. I'm hoping he jumped just cuz he wanted to carpet surf. but who knows

So good news (so far...)
I just added my 2nd clown. I went w/ the black and white and I got it smaller than my current clown (but larger than my previous one that jumped)
There doesn't seem to be ANY aggression yet. They actually swim together for short periods of time, and look great together... I think/hope they will get along fine.
