Filstar XP3 Media Choice Help

What media should I run in this filter? Just the bio and carbon or should I use the pads too? Does nitrate sponge actually work? I appreciate all help. Should I buy a UV sterilizer?

I have the same filter. I use bio-chem stars, ceramic rings, 2 coarse sponges, 2 fine sponges, micro filtration pad, and bio-chem zorb in mine.

I just set it up almost identically except they were all out of the cermics and stars! I will pick them up once in stock for sure.
