I'v been reading the Benifits of Live sand and I'm wondering I curently have a 72 Bow Front and it has the Factory built wet dry filter and skimmer. I have a bunch of Live rock and now I'm thinking of adding Live sand. Is this a good Idea? also My curent substrate is Dolomite and I have a well established family of Copa pods living in it and other things. can I just dump the live sand on top of the Dolomite? thanks.

you can add the live sand to it ,,, but do it slowly.... and leave some of the dolamite exposed so they have an escape route in a few areas......

thanks for the Information .. also I looked at my LFS and they had some Live sand in a bag that said that it had a shelf life of 12 months.. I don't remember the manufacture of it but if anyone has, is it a good thing to use?

That stuff is called Natures Ocean Live Sand and is excellent sand to use. I used this stuff over Aragamax oolite sand. No problems. A lot of people here has used this sand and has been very pleased with it. HTH--Bob
