Filter Feeder Food Products

This probably sounds really stupid but what are filter feeder food products? This site mentions them a lot and I don't know what they are. THANKS

They are for tube worms,soft corals,feather worms and even crabs or shrimp that take particals from the water.

the best filterfeeding foods are live phtyoplanktons (such as DT or velvet green from mountaincorals.com), next would be cryopreserved phytopastes from brineshrimpdirect.com.
I woul skip any product which claims its a filterfeeders food and has yeast extract in it.

Has anyone heard of/used ESV's spray-dried marine phytoplankton? I am thinking of using this instead of the live ones because of its long shelf-life and cost. Ijust wonder if it delivers. Any input appreciated.
